Inspired by Isaiah 40:28–31
There are seasons in life where everything feels enclosed - like standing in a deep valley with no clear way forward. The weight of circumstances presses in, and our vision becomes limited to what is immediately around us. We feel our weakness more than our strength, and hope can seem distant, almost out of reach.
It was in reflecting on Isaiah 40:28–31 that this painting began to take shape in my heart.
“He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might He increases strength…
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
This passage doesn’t deny our weariness - it meets us in it. It speaks directly into the reality of human limitation, yet lifts our eyes to the unchanging nature of God: eternal, powerful, and never faint or weary. And in that contrast, something shifts. Not because our circumstances immediately change, but because our perspective does.
The painting With Wings Like Eagles is a visual meditation on that shift.
At its center, an eagle soars high above rugged, towering mountains. Beneath it, a valley lies veiled in mist - suggesting depth, uncertainty, and the hidden weight of what lies below. Yet above the eagle, the sky opens wide, and light breaks through in radiant splendour.
It is a scene of elevation. Of vision.

This painting is not just about escape from hardship - it is about being lifted above it. About seeing from a higher place.
Because the promise in Isaiah is not merely that we will endure, but that as we wait on the Lord - trusting, leaning, placing our hope fully in Him, He renews us. He strengthens us. He lifts us into a new way of seeing.
A heavenly perspective.
So often, we live confined to what we can see with our natural eyes. The “valleys” of life can feel all-encompassing, closing in our sense of possibility and hope. But when Christ rises in our hearts - when we fix our gaze on Him in faith, something deeper begins to awaken.
We begin to see beyond the valley.
Not by striving, but by surrender. Not by denying reality, but by being anchored in a greater one.
Scripture speaks of “the eyes of your heart” being enlightened (Ephesians 1:18). This is the kind of vision the painting points toward: a Spirit-given perspective that is lifted, expansive, and eternal. A way of seeing that is no longer bound to the temporary, but rooted in the reality of God’s Kingdom - alive within us.
Like the eagle carried by currents unseen, we are sustained by a strength that is not our own.
And from that place, everything changes.
The invitation of this piece is simple, yet profound:
Lift your eyes.
Not just in thought, but in trust. In faith. In the quiet, steady turning of your heart toward Christ.
Because as you do, He is faithful to meet you there - to renew your strength, to lift you above what once confined you, and to give you a vision that reaches far beyond the present moment.
A vision that is free. Vast. Eternal.
